Buying a new boiler

Best Boiler Brands UK: What to Compare

There isn't one best boiler brand for every home or budget. A brand shortlist is a starting point; the right model, correct sizing, installation and written warranty terms matter just as much.

Updated

Which brands are worth comparing?

In a published 2023 survey, consumer organisation Which? named Worcester Bosch and Vaillant gas boilers as Best Buys. It also highlighted Ideal as a more affordable Best Buy. This is useful independent context, but it is not a current price list or a verdict on every model each brand makes.

Rather than buying by the badge alone, ask which specific boiler is suitable for your home and why. Compare the exact model and specification on each quote. We haven't listed any brand as one Pinto Services fits or endorses; ask us about the options available for your job.

  • Worcester Bosch: one of the higher-scoring brands in that Which? survey.
  • Vaillant: highly rated by the engineers surveyed by Which?.
  • Ideal: highlighted by Which? as a more affordable option in that survey.

Premium or budget-friendly: where does the money go?

A premium option may offer features or specifications that make sense for your home; a lower-cost option may meet your needs without stretching the budget. Neither label tells you whether a particular boiler is the right size or type.

Ask for a written comparison that includes the boiler model, the work involved, the total price and what is included. It is easier to make a decision when you're comparing like for like, rather than just two headline prices.

Check the warranty before you commit

Warranty length and conditions vary by the boiler and offer chosen. Ask who provides the cover, what parts and labour are included, whether registration is required and what maintenance conditions apply. Get the terms for the exact model in writing before you agree to the work.

At Pinto Services, we explain the warranty for each option before you commit. We do not promise a single warranty length across all boilers.

The questions to ask your installer

A good recommendation starts with your existing setup and how you use heating and hot water. These questions make a quote more useful:

  • Why is this boiler type and size right for this home?
  • What is included in the quoted installation price?
  • What are the written warranty conditions for each option?
  • How long is this particular job expected to take?
  • What happens if an existing boiler can be repaired instead?
